Hey!!! I am in south central Va right on the NC line. I have Foodlion closest to me which is where I always go until now LOL. The prices there are rising, I think it's a FoodLion thing since we don't have a remodeled store. Everything else is on the other side of the river but the only thing to choose from is Harris Teeter and Walmart, oh and we just got a Sams but I havent decided if it is worth the 40.00 a month yet (any opinions would be great on that). We also have an Old Dutch but I find their selection is not that great, oh yeah I forgot we do have an Aldi's but I never find anything when I go in there. Thanks for letting me know about Harris Teeter I think I will give them a try especially since FoodLion has gone sky high on a lot of things I purchase.

I use to shop at Aldi's all of the time when I lived in Ohio. . . .miss that store-nothing like it in South Dakota. Just a Hy-Vee and a Wal-Mart.

I am not familiar with Old Dutch, but I know about where you live, beautful country. Born and raised in Va - love this state!! I can sometimes catch a good deal at food lion when the exp date is the same day and they really mark it down - I always freeze it. Harris Teeter - I have found so many great deals there too!! I dont like going into Walmart or the Super Walmart cause I find myself spending more than what I wanted, I see a shirt that is on sales or a pair of pants or something that "I just cant live without!!" So I stay away. I have a friend who is a manager of the Walmart here in Charlottesville and I call her to pick up what ever I need and she uses her discount card, I then pay her back. She doesnt mind and I actually save in the long run. I dont believe its such a great deal to get a membership at Sam's. We did it for awhile but after my husband and I did some price comparing we realized that you can buy the same items for either the same or less at other stores. Save your money there. I love Aldi!! We have one in Culpeper, so I go there once a month. I have found another store that is better than Aldi's - "Sharp Shoppers" - they are based in Penn but have two stores here in Virginia. One in Harrisonburg and then one in Waynesboro. If you are ever in this area you should really check them out - they also have a website that you can check out. Some of the deals that I got where:
4 can of chic/beef broth 1.00
4 cans of soups/beans/pasta 1.00
fresh bread .35 cents a loaf
50 lbs of dog food - 5.99
35 lbs of cat food - 2.99
40 lbs of cat litter - 2.99
boxes of rice-a-roni and Pasta-roni - 3@1.00
16 strawberry granola bars for 1.99
16 cheddar brats for 2.99
6 pounds of ground beef for 3.99
These are some of the deals. I spent 100.00 and got three grocery carts full. Then on the way home I stopped at a little store when I say a sign that said tomatoes for .29 a lb...I got a deal on the tomatoes and then saw the potatoes - that was a deal that was too good to be true. You should check out the Sharp Shoppers site - maybe they could open one near you.
Hope I helped some..

Thank you. I live in Oregon, both Safeway and Thriftway will double coupons up to 50 cents. Albertson"s will honor other stores coupons.

Sams Club membership price
You may want to call and check on that price - here in Texas it is abt $40.00 but that is for a whole year - not per month. Sams is great depending on what you buy there. As with any store, compare the price on a per ounce basis with other stores in your area for comparable items. Some things are great deals, others, perhaps not so great. Also think about storage for things that are perishable. If you have a plan to preserve those kinds of things or are going in on a purchase with someone else, then it's a good deal, but if you can't eat or use it all before it goes bad then it may not be such a great deal. Just my opinion.

Oh and now in Ohio , Apples doubles coupons on Monday and Tuesdays. Once a month K-Mart will be doubling coupons. But talking to the store manager on Friday she said I'd have to watch for their ad and the dates would be posted there, for the time being--till futher notice.
