MYO Copycat Snickers Bars- Love the taste of snickers but Hate that they’re $1 each? Make a giant batch and freeze them till you want one!

Snickers bars are one of my favorite candies, but when we lived in the midwest, we were 2 hours from a decent store and the gas station closest to us sold these for $1.75 each for the small ones.

Depending on what type of milk chocolate you use you may need to add 1-2 Tbs of solid shortening.

We recommend using Milk Chocolate flavored chocolate chips so you won’t need shortening as those already contain an ingredient to help them hold their shape and “stick”. Obviously, the cost of this recipe is going to vary depending on the price of the ingredients that you find in your area and you might be better off using coupons to get a deal following a major holiday.

But, if you prefer to control the ingredients of what you eat, the price breakdown is listed below the recipe.

For those with peanut allergies, you could swap out the peanuts for chopped almonds or pecans and use almond butter in place of the peanut butter.

You’ll Need:
24 oz of Milk Chocolate Chips for coating the bars
1/2 stick butter or margarine
1 c. sugar
1/4 cup condensed evaporated milk (this is canned milk, but NOT sweetened)
7 oz Marshmallow Creme ( marshmallow fluff)
14 oz caramel squares
1/3 cup peanut butter
14 oz of whole peanuts
4 tablespoons Water (for caramel)

Line a 9 x 13 dish with foil, “grease” with butter.

Melt about 1/2 a cup of Chocolate over a double boiler, once melted pour onto the buttered foil, spreading evenly with the back of a spoon. Place in fridge to set.

In the meantime…

In a med. saucepan combine sugar, butter, and evaporated milk, stirring constantly over med heat until mixture thickens and comes to a rolling boil, cook 4 minutes., stirring constantly Remove from heat and add peanut butter and marshmallow creme.

Pour the mixture over the chocolate & stick it in the fridge to solidify quickly.

Heat the caramel in the microwave or a double boiler with a few tablespoons of water ( about 4) until smooth and creamy.

Then add peanuts and mix.

Pour the caramel mixture over marshmallow layer and spread well until evenly coated over the nougat.

Cool a few minutes to let them set, then cut into bars.

Melt the 24 oz of Chocolate in a double boiler & Dip the bars into the chocolate, let them set on parchment or wax paper until hardened. You can speed the process up by placing them in the fridge for a few minutes.
