This is one of our favorite recipes because it doesn't require any cooking first,
1/3 cup Orange juice concentrate; - thawed
2 tsp Vanilla
2 cup Heavy or whipping cream
3/4 cup Sugar
2/3 cup Half and half
(Optional up to 1 Tbs. freshly grated Orange rind)
Place the cream in a medium mixing bowl and start whisking on medium/high, add the sugar a couple of tablespoons at a time, continuing to whisk on medium/high setting with a stand or hand mixer. Keep adding the sugar until completely blended, about a minute or so. Add in the half and half and whisk to blend. Add the thawed concentrated Orange juice and vanilla, and then immediately transfer to your ice cream maker. Process according to the manufacturers directions for your particular machine.
If you're adding the grated orange rind, do so during the last 10 minutes of processing.
For us we simply use the kitchenaid ice cream bowl attachment for our kitchenaid mixer.
This recipes makes one generous quart.
