    • Ice Tea Syrup Concentrate

      SPCA of Texas Fire Safety Sticker!-b101-iced-tea-sm.jpgLove the taste of Fresh ice tea, but don't have the extra fridge space? Keep a container of this delicious Ice Tea Syrup Concentrate on hand to mix up a pitcher of tea in no time at all . . .

      You'll Need:
      10 tea bags (regular size tea bags- lipton, salada, luizianne, bigelow etc)
      3 C. water
      3 C. sugar

      Bring the water to a boil, add the tea bags, reduce heat, COVER and simmer on low for 10 minutes.

      Add the sugar, bring it back to a boil and boil for 2 minutes.

      Cool and store in fridge.

      To Use:
      Mix 5 cups water & 1 c. Syrup. (or to taste)
      Serve with lemon slices.

      This ice tea syrup is great for making half and half lemonade/ice tea, or quick glasses of iced tea. It stores well for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

        This tea syrup is great. It saves me time so I don't have to make a pot every day.My family loves it. I add more water so it not to sweet. I also add some lemon and ginger some times.

        What kind of tea bags? Like do you mean tea bags that you use to make one mug of tea or the large bags?

        I did this when we lived in our 5th wheel for the summer in 2012 while waiting to get into our new home. I just did it on a smaller scale and made individual glasses.

        I've made both sweet tea and unsweet tea. For unsweet, just leave out the sugar. Saves time and refrigerator space. Delicious!

        I would love to try this but to me this does not seem to be enough tea bags. I use the single serving tea bags and I use 10 just for 1 gallon. Please if some one can let me know what size these are would be great.

        I need to know if these are single tea bags or the family size.
        We go thru 2-3 gallons a day. This would be a real time saver.

        For those who were asking, I make it with the family size--and 4 cups of water so when it boils for 10 minutes you still have 3 cups left. then it's 1 oz syrup to at least 5 oz water. A graduated shot glass makes the measurement easier.

        I have to try this tonight! My son in law has been wanting to take iced tea for him and his crew to drink on these hot days. He wants to take 5 gallons a day! If I can make up enough concentrate the night before and let it chill all night, putting it together will be a snap in the morning and the tea will be cold. Thanks a lot! Will probably make some "tea ice cubes" so I can keep the tea cold without diluting it.

        I usually brew my tea in the coffee pot. I place 4 bags in the carafe and a full pot of water in the reservoir. I let it run then steep for an hour. I then add my tea to a gallon pitcher, stir in the splenda and top off with water to get a full gallon. The longer it steeps, the stronger the taste.

        I love making the syrups as well. We have lemon, orange, grapefruit, and lime trees, as well as 5 plum trees. I usually make lemonade or limeade syrup with the lemons/limes for quick lemonade. We generally eat the oranges fresh... and I dehydrate the zest of all the citrus for use later... if I'm not using it immediately.

        Love the idea of the ice tea cubes. I may just freeze the concentrate in the trays for quick glasses of tea. I already freeze the syrup like the concentrates you buy, but cube size would give me another option, yay

        Hello, i am new to the site and saw this on Facebook, what type of tea should i use? Would this be like a homemade equivalent to lipton iced tea for example. I would very much appreciate your help.

        I'm a little new at this and specially this site. What type of tea is used to make this concentrate? Is this supposed to taste like Lipton iced tea for example? I will appreciate your response.

        I have tons of small bags of lipton so what would the equivalent be for this recipe. Since the above comment said that you used family sized bags?

        Any Brand of Black tea that you would normally use to make sweet tea will work.

        hehe, when this recipe was created there was No such thing as "family bags". The recipe calls for regular tea bags, that just happens to be one members input.
