Autumn is a wonderful time of year to take a walk through the woods or a local park to enjoy the gorgeous colors nature has to offer. Even better, it’s a great time to collect the colorful leaves to preserve for years to come with a simple do it yourself two-ingredient solution!

You’ll Need:
2 c. water
1 c. glycerin

Combine the water and glycerin in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over low heat. Simmer on low heat 10 min and then cool completely, much like you’d prepare hummingbird food.

Carefully cut each well-chosen branch at an angle (like you’d cut flowers) for easier absorption.

Once they are preserved you’ll note that there will be beads of glycerin on the leaves. Carefully wipe each leaf with a damp washcloth or paper towel, then gently pat dry.

Arrange your branches into swags, wreaths or Heavy Vases. These arrangements will last for years.

  1. I have done this for years. It also helps to take a hammer and slightly crush the bottom of the stem to help it absorb the liquid. Being from Florida this is my favorite craft to do.

    I love it.
