    • Homemade Vanilla Chai Tea Mix

Create your own delicious homemade Vanilla Chai Tea Mix, a soothing blend of tea and spices reminiscent of the holidays, but tasty all year long! This lovely make ahead mix costs only pennies compared to it's store-bought counterpart and can be stored in the pantry for several months.

      You'll Need:
1 cup nonfat dry milk powder
      1 cup powdered non-dairy creamer
1 cup French vanilla powdered non-dairy creamer
      2 cups white granulated sugar
1 cups unsweetened instant tea mix
      2 tsp ground ginger
      2 tsp ground cinnamon
      1 tsp ground cloves
      1 tsp ground cardamom
      1 tsp ground nutmeg
      1 tsp ground allspice
      tsp white pepper

In a food processor or blender combine dry milk, tea mix and spices and combine until well blended. Add remaining ingredients and process until it's a fine powder. While it's not completely necessary, it makes the blend very smooth and it dissolves without any texture in your mug!

      To Use:
Add two-three tablespoons of mix to a Mug, fill with hot water, enjoy!
If you prefer an extra-rich mug of Vanilla Chai, add hot Milk (instead of water!)

im looking for a substitute for cardamom. it is 14.00 for a small jar. I saw another recipe for chai fudge in an AY magazine and really wanted to try it, but I don't want to spend that much for 1/4th of a teaspoon.

        Read this article: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/cardamom-substitute.html

I usually substitute cardamom for an equal measurement consisting of half cinnamon and half clove. To me, I never taste a difference and save lots of $$$!

The Tones brand offers cardamom (and even mace....needed it for fruitcake) often for less than $.79..... Alternatively, you could crush a pod or two of cardamom.Personally, I love the flavor, and would miss it. I think our Vietnamese/Mexican grocery sells the pods in little baggies for a dollar or so.
