    Week 2 Grocery Notes: While I didn't get a chance to take a photograph of our grocery deals this week, I did manage to find boneless skinless chicken breast on sale at Walmart for $1.77 a pound. Chicken is pretty easy to find cheap and if given the opportunity, I prefer to purchase boneless, skinless breasts. Read Full Article ...

    Week 3 Grocery Notes: This week things are getting a little easier, we have lots of pork in the freezer, as well as a few packages boneless skinless chicken breast.
    Yesterday, while shopping at Piggly Wiggly, I discovered a huge 15# package of thick sliced bacon for $19.99. Given the fact that our youngest would eat a pound of bacon in one sitting if given the opportunity, I figured I'd better buy it while it was priced well. I divided it into 1 pound packages, vacuum sealed it and froze it and now have enough for 15 meals. Read Full Article ...

    Week 5 Grocery Notes: Chicken leg quarters were on sale this week for .50 pound, so I purchased 20 pounds.
    The best way to prepare such a huge amount of chicken is to remove the skin and place the chicken in a large stock pot. Bring it to a boil with a chopped onion and a bit of pepper. Once the meat is falling off the bone, strain the meat, reserving the stock, return the stock & bones to the pot and continue simmering. (I usually add a bit more onion, garlic, celery
