    • Kool-Aid Sherbet

Create your own creamy smooth fruity sherbet using your favorite flavor of Kool-Aid! This recipe is very simple and makes a great low calorie snack during the hot summer months.

      1 cup sugar
1 envelope unsweetened kool-aid (any flavor; not artificially sweetened)
3 cups Half & Half (or milk)
      1/4 c. Water

In a small saucepan mix kool-aid, water and sugar over medium heat until smooth and sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and cool 10 minutes. Mix with 3 c. of Cold Milk and pour into ice cream maker, process according to manufacturers directions on your machine.

If you don't have an ice cream maker, pour into a dish and place in the freezer. Remove from freezer after 1 hour, blend well until smooth and return to freezer.

Please note, if using milk, it will have an "icy" texture rather than a smooth sherbet texture.

I don't have an ice cream maker, but this might be a fun idea for the kids to make. And my step-son's birthday is coming up so that could be something special for him to do.

My husband and I just made a double batch of the sherbert (strawberry and lemon -lime cheap kool aid). We used half and half and it is so good...it is not weak in flavor. We are planning to serve it at a 4th of July fish fry. We are making a second batch with grape fool aid (cheap kool aid) with milk. I can't wait to sample this sherbert!!!

I love sherbet but it can be quite expensive for some of the better brands and flavors. I usually go without because it's just cost to much. this is going to be my favorite reciepe I can already tell and I can't wait to try it with the keylime koolaid I found the other day. (my favorite flavor). yummy.

I just looked at sherbet in the store because my daughter loves it. I didn't buy it because of cost. I am trying this recipe today!

That sounds good to me! I am going to try to make orange and then mix the finished sherbet with some plain vanilla to make creamsicle!

Has anyone tried fat free half and half? Or does that impact the texture?

Does anyone know if this can be done with an artificial sweetener instead of sugar with good results?

This looks great..! Sometimes I prepare Wholemeal banana pancakes topped with honey and sliced banana for the breakfast for my two kids. They like this very much. At times when I have board meetings...
