    • Meatloaf Seasoning Mix

Make your own Meatloaf seasoning mix to have on hand for a quick throw-together weeknight meal or as a lovely addition to a gift basket for someone you care about.

      You'll Need:
      2 tsp. dried mustard
      2 tsp. paprika
      3/4 tsp. salt
      1 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
      1 1/2 tsp. basil
      1 tsp. black pepper
      1 tsp. garlic powder
      1 tsp. onion powder

Combine all the spices and seal in ziploc or vacuum seal bag (or jar), seal & shake to combine. This makes 1 Mix.

To Prepare a Meatloaf, You'll Need:
1 package Meat Loaf Seasoning Mix
2 pounds ground beef or ground turkey
      2 eggs
      1/2 cup milk
2 slices bread, finely crumbled or 1/4 cup dry bread crumbs, 1/2 cup BBQ Sauce

Combine the Seasoning Mix, ground beef or turkey, eggs, milk and bread crumbs in large bowl, Shape into a loaf and place into a 9x5-inch loaf pan. Spread ketchup or BBQ sauce over top of loaf, if desired.

Bake at 375F for about 1 hour or until cooked through.

      Optional:

Some folks like Sage in their Meatloaf, you could always add 1/2- 3/4 tsp Ground Sage to the seasoning mix as well.

I tried this recipe over the weekend. It was really good. I already have a jar of seasoning made for the next meatloaf. We did make one change and that was to double the garlic powder.

I tried the recipe tonight and it was better than the store bought seasoning mix. My mother kind of didn't like it, no sage in the mix. I just wished there was sage in it. I love sage. Can sage be added to the mix. Please let me know.

In response to the comment above, yes you can whatever you like to the mix. I'd start with about 1/2 a teaspoon or so, depending on how strong you like it. That's the beauty of making your own, you can put whatever you want in it!
