Decorate your windows with gorgeous crystal designs using this simple recipe.

Dissolve 4 heaping T. Epsom salts in 1 cup of beer.
This will foam. Let set for 35 minutes.

Using a terrycloth washcloth dipped in mixture, dab over stencil designs. Wonderful for all season decorating, add 1 or 2 drops of food coloring if desired.

Mixture dries to form beautiful crystals.

Washes off easily with Water. Crystals look best after 24 hours.

This is such a cool idea!

Is it possible to use another liquid besides beer? Would seltzer water work?

How long would you expect the designs to last if there's no rain or snow to wash them off?

You make the designs on the Insides of the windows, not the outsides, so the rain and snow doesn't wash them off. This will not work with seltzer water or other liquids that we know of, but if you try it with others, please let use know!

      Re: Chocolate covered cherries

Remember years ago, a cousin brought some brandy filled chocolate covered cherries from Germany. Reading this post brought back child hood memories.
