LOL! I just have to share

Liss (and everyone that knows me) knows

how broke I usually am;-\ well, this month, things came together at

the wrong time and I'm broker-than-broke! I had to resort to Liss'

$10 grocery bill again (which was a bit higher -- I know ya'll are

paying attention to the increases in everything) and menu. I didn't

have any peas, but I had a 10-oz package of frozen chopped broccoli

and substituted that. man that was good over toast! tonight I'm

combining it with potatoes and onions to make a casserole so it should

be yummy. so if anyone had ANY questions about the tastiness of Liss'

recipes on her super cheap menu -- don't! I've used her plan before

and with my little modification, the meal was even better. so if

you're broke...use her $10 menu for the week...actually, since I'm

single, the ideas last longer for me. with a little creative

seasoning or sauces, the leftover meal can be changed into a different

meal altogether!

Hi... I'm a newbie to the group and first wanted to

intro .myself.

) I'm Jean, 51 year old wife from Pennsylvania.

Hubby, Mike, and I will celebrate our 30th anniversary this year and

we have one, 24 year old, son who will be getting married this

December. Since he moved out we're filling our empty nest with

critters. We have two dogs...a Sheltie and a Yorkie...and two cats,

one tabby and one Maine Coon (our dream cat) who is just 5 months

old. This Saturday we're driving out to the breeder to "adopt" a

special needs MC. He was born with one eye.

My question right now is.........what is tuna pea wiggle? and what is

Liss' $10 grocery bill. It drives me nuts when I see women on TV go

grocery shopping and get $300 worth of groceries for $5.00. I don't

know where they're getting all their coupons. We get the Sunday

paper circular....rarely are there coupons my husband and I can use.

I'd appreciate help....as the grocery bill is where I want to cut

back on right now. We were shocked to receive our new monthly

heating oil budget plan.....went from $179 to $300 per month !!!!

Things have to change.

been a few years since Liss put this together and it's a bit more

than $10...closer to $15. each recipe is about four servings so for

a single person, I can get lunches from the dinners.

a) We had a Maine Coon cat for 16 years - my sweetie!!!! Did not get him on

purpose and he was likely not purebred. I was there when he was born (at a

friend of a friend's house) and mentioned to the kids how I loved kittens -

etc... Went home and thought nothing more of it - I couldn't do pets just

yet anyway. 6 weeks later these kids followed me all over Albertsons

convincing me that I just had to take the last kitten. Home he came....

b) I get $300 of groceries for well under $100 routinely. $5 might be a

stretch (altho not always). And I use the Sunday ads. Trick is to use the

coupons in conjunction with store sales. Case in point - Darigold yogurt is

2/$1 right now at Albertsons. The Sunday paper carries a $1 off 2 coupon

for Darigold yogurt. Total cost of 2 yogurts = $0. I have my Sunday paper,

and all my co-workers (single men who don't eat at home) Sunday papers. The

coupon is disguised with a picture of a much more expensive "new" Darigold

yogurt brand on it, but the fine print says "any Darigold yogurt product."

The Albertson's clerk looks strangely at me when I walk out with 10 yogurts

without paying a dime, but it works. And this Sunday's ads might not match

up with the store sale - you need to hold your coupons until the right

time. I also got $10 of Pillsbury cookie dough for $6 (coupons + sale =

$1.50 each), and in addition, Albertsons was giving free pairs of movie

tickets for buying 4 items of a certain brand. So, I got two movie tickets

($19) + 4 sheets of cookie dough for the kids for $6. They paid me $13 to

come home with cookies, in effect.

Wow, that's amazing. I can tell it's been awhile since the original

post. $10 worth of gas in the car might get you to the next gas

station. But even at $15 the grocery list is terrific. Will

definately do some printing with this one. Only feeding two of

us....three of us about 4 times a week (my Mother lives next

door)....sometimes 4 or 5 when my son and his fiance come to visit.

Albertson's and Safeway don't seem to care how many you use. I let them

ring up 10 yogurts, hand them 5 coupons and watch the total go down to zero.

You can't use two coupons on one thing - so if Windex was $1.50 on sale and

you had two 75 cents off coupons you don't get one bottle of Windex for

free. You could get two Windex bottles for $1.50 however. (Two bottles,

two coupons).
