Default Budget101.com -best homemade baby wipes?

    Hi all,

What is your favorite wipe "recipe"? I found several on this site

and used the one with the anti-bac soap. I've read that using the

anti-bac in the "mix" will allow the wipes to last longer. However,

this made very wet wipes and they irritated Jolie's bottom.

    TIA,

    Jill 8-)

    Not baby wipes, but all-purpose-family-wipes:

a few drops of jojoba oil

a couple drops of tea tree oil

    enough water to moisten

I use the select-a-size wipes; hubby cuts a roll in

half with his Guy Saw <g> - easier than my serrated

bread knife. I use a Rubbermaid container I bought just

for this purpose, into which I cut a small (think piggy bank)

slot) on the lid. We all use these all the time, and they

have the added benefit - at least for us - of repelling insects,

at least a few. Most bugs don't like tea tree.

I like mixing distilled or boiled water with 1 T. of quality baby shampoo and 1 T. baby oil. I purchase baby wipes from the Stork Warehouse, which is a WAHM who lives in my area. She has really nice high quality cloth. An idea is to keep the water in a small spray bottle and spritz it on the cloth wipes. (I do this if they are wet only, we do cloth diaper but I just can't with the wipes). You could also use the high quality paper towels and spritz them before using. I found the bounty paper towel recipe to be too wet and it got nasty after awhile. Nicole

When my kids were that age I used the Bounty select-a-size paper towels (only when on sale) or cut regular paper towels in 1/2. For the mix I used water, baby oil, and a few drops of dish soap. I just remembered to shake up the container before using them and they worked fine.

I make these up and keep them for my family. My nephew is allergic to many things and we have used these with him from the very beginning. Herbal Wipes:
1 roll Bounty paper towels, cut in half. Use a serrated, sharp knife.
    Remove cardboard tube.
Put in a Rubbermaid container... try the Collectible round 2-quart with a
    screw-on top.
Note: Each recipe makes 2 containers. 16 oz.. bottle witch hazel
Add: 1 Tbsp. Tea Tree Essential Oil
    1 teaspoon Lavender Essential Oil
    12 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil
    Shake well.
Add to 4 cups distilled water and mix well. Pour half over each 1/2 roll of
Bounty towels in jar. Put lid on jar, and turn jar upside down and on its side
    to moisten all towel segments

Where do you find the essential oils? Are they pricey?

    Thanks!

I get the oils at Wal-mart in the pharmacy area and they're about $4 dollars a bottle. A little goes a long way though and they keep forever as long as they're tighly sealed and in a closed cabinet.
